Description:

This painting became history right after it was finished. After German and other troops left Afghanistan, the Taliban took over with heavy consequences for women and girls. Girls like these will not be seen on the streets like this again for the time being, where the travel photographer of the reference photo for this double portrait met them on her last trip to Afghanistan.

From the Friends Series:

When the artist painted the first “Friends“ (Afghanistan), she noticed the subtle interaction between the two girls in front of the camera and felt fascinated by it. That fascniation grew when she painted the following two double portraits of friends and decided to turn them all into the beginning of a new series. Seona believes from the bottom of her heart that personal encounters and nurturing friendships are the key to a more peaceful world. Making friends is not only a lot easier than making enemies it's also so much more rewarding. This may seem more than obvious but apparently is isn't when looking at what is happening in the world, in Ukraine, in Syria, and in many other places. This series is therefore dedicated to the many forms of friendships everywhere.

Beschreibung:
