The artist celebrates friendship in this series. These are two smiling young women from Chad in their beautiful traditional clothes and jewellery. They belong to the nomadic tribe Wodabee and were photographed during the week long Gerewol festival.
The artist wishes to remind us all that we are not alone. Building friendships is not only a lot easier than making enemies, it's also so much more rewarding. This might seem more than obvious but apparently is isn't considering what is happening in the world, in Ukraine, in Syria, and in many other places.

From the Friends Series:

When the artist painted the first “Friends“ (Afghanistan), she noticed the subtle interaction between the two girls in front of the camera and felt fascinated by it. That fascniation grew when she painted the following two double portraits of friends and decided to turn them all into the beginning of a new series. Seona believes from the bottom of her heart that personal encounters and nurturing friendships are the key to a more peaceful world. Making friends is not only a lot easier than making enemies it's also so much more rewarding. This may seem more than obvious but apparently is isn't when looking at what is happening in the world, in Ukraine, in Syria, and in many other places. This series is therefore dedicated to the many forms of friendships everywhere.

In dieser Serie feiert die Künstlerin die Freundschaft. Es handelt sich hier um zwei lächelnde junge Frauen aus dem Tschad in ihrer wunderschönen traditionellen Kleidung und ihrem Schmuck. Sie gehören dem Nomadenstamm der Wodabee an und wurden während des einwöchigen Gerewol-Festes fotografiert. Die Künstlerin möchte uns alle daran erinnern, dass wir nicht allein sind. Es ist nicht nur viel einfacher, Freundschaften zu schließen, als sich Feinde zu machen, es ist auch viel lohnender. Das mag mehr als offensichtlich erscheinen, ist es aber offenbar nicht, wenn man bedenkt, was in der Welt passiert, in der Ukraine, in Syrien und an vielen anderen Orten.

Aus der Werkreihe: Friends

Als die Künstlerin das erste "Friends"-Bild malte (Afghanistan), bemerkte sie die subtile Interaktion zwischen den beiden Mädchen vor der Kamera und war davon sofort fasziniert. Diese Faszination wuchs, als sie die beiden folgenden Doppelporträts von Freund*innen malte und beschloss, dass diese drei Bilder der Beginn einer neuen Serie waren. Seona glaubt aus tiefstem Herzen, dass persönliche Begegnungen und die Pflege von Freundschaften der Schlüssel zu einer friedlicheren Welt sind. Freundschaften zu schließen ist nicht nur viel einfacher als sich Feinde zu machen, sondern auch sehr viel lohnender. Das mag mehr als offensichtlich erscheinen, ist es aber anscheinend nicht, wenn man sich ansieht, was in der Welt passiert, in der Ukraine, in Syrien und an vielen anderen Orten. Diese Serie ist daher den vielen Formen von Freundschaften überall gewidmet.
